THINGS TO DO

The early spring bulbs are truly a miracle and a joy to see!

SPRINGTIME comes early in Port Townsend. The mild winter means early buds on the flowering trees and the first sightings of the daffodil bulbs popping up. We just completed our first garden mulching of the season and we had to work our way around many early bird plants that have decided that spring has indeed arrived! Port Townsend is an accessible, close-to-home getaway, with rich cultural, historic and recreational opportunities. Besides the early signs of spring, you will find charming shops, galleries and over 40 restaurants make Port Townsend a memorable destination.

GALLERY WALKS are a favorite here in Port Townsend. Occurring the first Saturday of every month, galleries and venues in the downtown waterfront district show off the work of local artists. Informal and enticing, the Gallery Walks encourage exploring the many nooks and crannies of the town’s historic center. A truly unique happening and all you do is show up downtown and start walking!

The Northwest Maritime Center opened in September and there is always the Wooden Boat Foundation to visit. Walking through the harbor is always fun too….lots to see and a great way to spend a morning.

Whether you like to dance, sit and listen some great jazz or blues, or enjoy classical music you will find something going on in Port Townsend! Besides weekend gigs at local watering holes like Sirens & Water Street Brewing Company, you can bet on The Upstage to showcase some great local & visiting musicians. Many folks who are booked into some of Seattle’s happening spots like The Triple Door, end up at The Upstage. You will pay much less to get in, can literally walk from A Bungalow & Hideaway on the Bluff, and have a much more intimate setting… so it is a great place to relax and hear some great music.
