A SUGGESTION: Here are several reasons to come to Port Townsend in August:
•Every Saturday all summer: Port Townsend Farmer’s Market is a real community event and a fun way to spend a morning! The best part: it is only two blocks from A Bungalow & Hideaway on the Bluff! Corner of Lawrence & Tyler!
• The Wheel In Drive-in open weekends all summer: Yes, you read that right! We have one of only 7 drive-ins in the state of Washington! It is vintage too….the old metal speakers that hook on your window, vintage commercials before the movie and during intermission, with the original concession stand! It even has an old cash register which can only accept up to $7 at a time, so the prices are reasonable. Yes, they have a fresh pop corn popper too! It is a step back in time but does show current movies. It is a real kick and a ton of fun if you can stay up that late!
• By advance reservation: Sailing aboard the 59′ schooner Pleiades: A great way to explore the waters and scenery around Port Townsend.
• Every weekend from July 3 through August 22: Olympic Music Festival Concerts in the Barn. Imagine a gorgeous serene outdoor setting, and some of the best chamber musicians in the country and you have the Olympic Music Festival. What is not to love? Advance reservations recommended but you can sometimes buy tickets at the gate on concert day.
• July 1 and every Thursday evening through the summer: Concerts on the Dock at the end of Water Street by the Northwest Maritime Center. A really fun event and the best part….it is free!
• August 21 will be a fun weekend for art lovers! There will be an Uptown Street Fair with 45 vendor booths, as well as food and entertainment. It is like a community block party with dancing in the street! No kidding! There is also an Open Studio Tour all weekend where you can visit the studios of our talented local artists. This is one of our favorite annual events. No charge, just come have a great time!
